Reduce waste  

Waste is inevitable in the process of feeding chickens.  Some statistics, when the feed filled the bucket 2/3, waste 12%;  When filling 1/2 of the barrel, waste 5%;  When only 1/3 of the bucket is filled, only 2% is wasted.  But in the free-range farming process, we can't only add 1/3 of the barrel every day, which will only make the chicken unable to eat, or increase the labor cost of feeding, so someone will hoist the barrel, the bottom of the barrel is slightly lower than the head of the chicken.  The bucket can be filled to the top, although there is waste but no more than 2%, which is equivalent to a small amount of frequent feeding method.

To save time  

I have a farming friend, because a person is too busy to come over, on the breeding of free chickens in the greenhouse hung more than 30 barrels.  A simple automatic feeder is designed, and a plastic bucket with a lid is placed on top of each bucket.  Iron a hole in the bottom of the plastic bucket, connect the plastic bucket to the feed bucket with PVC pipe, and add feed once every two days is enough.  While the pipe into the feed barrel is deeper, the feed in the feed barrel is not more than a quarter of the height.  The feed will not be wasted by the chickens and will save the time of feeding the chickens.

Avoid contamination  

The habit of the chicken is to eat with claws dig soil, chicken feed bucket on the ground is easy to be chicken claws will drink out of the bucket.  And when a chicken's paw reaches into the bucket, it can contaminate the feed with bacteria and manure.  Chickens that eat contaminated feed are susceptible to disease.  After the feed bucket hanging up, it is a good solution to the habit of the chicken like to use claws to dig soil, to avoid feed contamination.

That's why free-range chicken farms hang their feed buckets. They're meant to be profitable.  If we want to make farming profitable, we have to solve the problem of feed waste to save costs and effectively reduce the possible factors of disease.
